Here's Why We Think BG Agro AD (BUL:BGAG) Is Well Worth Watching

Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like BG Agro AD (BUL:BGAG), which has not only revenues, but also profits. Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

BG Agro AD's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.

As one of my mentors once told me, share price follows earnings per share (EPS). That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Impressively, BG Agro AD has grown EPS by 21% per year, compound, in the last three years. If the company can sustain that sort of growth, we'd expect shareholders to come away winners.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. BG Agro AD shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 1.5% to 4.0%, and revenue is growing. That's great to see, on both counts.

BG Agro AD isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of лв57m. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.

Are BG Agro AD Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Many consider high insider ownership to be a strong sign of alignment between the leaders of a company and the ordinary shareholders. So we're pleased to report that BG Agro AD insiders own a meaningful share of the business. Indeed, with a collective holding of 85%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. To me this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. With that sort of holding, insiders have about лв48m riding on the stock, at current prices. That's nothing to sneeze at!

Is BG Agro AD Worth Keeping An Eye On?

Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about BG Agro AD's strong EPS growth. Further, the high level of insider ownership impresses me, and suggests that I'm not the only one who appreciates the EPS growth. Fast growth and confident insiders should be enough to warrant further research. So the answer is that I do think this is a good stock to follow along with. Still, you should learn about the 2 warning signs we've spotted with BG Agro AD (including 1 which is concerning) .
