Insider Buyers At Swift Networks Group Recover Some Losses, But Still Down AU$61k
Insiders who bought AU$170.9k worth of Swift Networks Group Limited (ASX:SW1) stock in the last year have seen some of their losses recouped as the stock gained 10.0% last week. However, the purchase is proving to be an expensive wager as insiders are yet to get ahead of their losses which currently stand at AU$61k since the time of purchase.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
Swift Networks Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The insider Joshua Sweetman made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$171k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.02 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being AU$0.011). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Joshua Sweetman.

Does Swift Networks Group Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It appears that Swift Networks Group insiders own 37% of the company, worth about AU$2.6m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
