Zeotech Falls To AU$0.03, But Insiders Sold At Lower Price

Zeotech Limited's (ASX:ZEO) value has fallen 19% in the last week, but insiders who sold AU$82k worth of stock over the last year have had less success. Given that the average selling price of AU$0.041 is still lower than the current share price, insiders would probably have been better off keeping their shares.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Zeotech Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, John Goody, for AU$82k worth of shares, at about AU$0.041 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of AU$0.03. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price. John Goody was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

Insider Ownership

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Insiders own 28% of Zeotech shares, worth about AU$15m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
