In the last year, multiple insiders have substantially increased their holdings of Reece Limited (ASX:REH) stock, indicating that insiders' optimism about the company's prospects has increased.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Reece Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Executive Director Leslie Wilson made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$19m worth of shares at a price of AU$18.83 each. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of AU$22.81. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
In the last twelve months Reece insiders were buying shares, but not selling. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Are Reece Insiders Buying Or Selling?
There was some insider buying at Reece over the last quarter. MD, Group President & Executive Director Sasha Nikolic shelled out AU$8.1k for shares in that time. It's great to see that insiders are only buying, not selling. But the amount invested in the last three months isn't enough for us too put much weight on it, as a single factor.
Does Reece Boast High Insider Ownership?
Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Reece insiders own 12% of the company, currently worth about AU$1.7b based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Reece Insiders?
We note a that there has been a bit of insider buying recently (but no selling). The net investment is not enough to encourage us much. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year. It would be great to see more insider buying, but overall it seems like Reece insiders are reasonably well aligned (owning significant chunk of the company's shares) and optimistic for the future.
