This is considered a major risk. Ultimately, shareholders want to see a good return on their investment and that generally comes from sharing in the company's profits. If profits are declining over an extended period, then in most cases the share price will decline over time unless the company can turn around its fortunes. A trend of falling earnings can be very difficult to turn around. If the company is well already established it may also be a sign the company has matured and is in decline. In addition, if the company pays dividends it will also likely need to reduce or cut them, striking a dual blow to total shareholder returns. Currently, the following risks have been identified for the company: Major Risks Dividend is not well covered by earnings and cash flows. Dividend per share is over 18x earnings per share. Paying a dividend despite having no free cash flows. Earnings have declined by 0.8% per year over the past 5 years. Minor Risks Large one-off items impacting financial results. New Risk • May 17New major risk - Revenue and earnings growthEarnings have declined by 0.8% per year over the past 5 years. Profit margins are more than 30% lower than last year (1.5% net profit margin). Revenue is less than US$5m (US$4.3m revenue). Market cap is less than US$100m (US$13.7m market cap).
Declared Dividend • May 07Fourth quarter dividend of US$0.05 announcedDividend of US$0.05 is the same as last year. Ex-date: 16th May 2025 Payment date: 30th May 2025 Dividend yield will be 9.3%, which is higher than the industry average of 1.4%. Sustainability & Growth Dividend is not covered by earnings (134% earnings payout ratio) and the company has no free cash flows available, indicating it may be using cash reserves or debt to pay the dividend. The dividend has increased by an average of 8.0% per year over the past 9 years and payments have been stable during that time. The company's earnings per share (EPS) would need to grow by 48% to bring the payout ratio under control, which is more than the 2.1% EPS growth achieved over the last 5 years.

New Risk • Apr 07New major risk - Dividend sustainabilityThe dividend is not well covered by earnings and cash flows. Payout ratio: 134% The company is paying a dividend despite having no free cash flows. Dividend yield: 9.2% This is considered a major risk. Companies that pay out too much of their earnings and cash flows are at risk of having to reduce or cut their dividend in future. Or in extreme cases, companies may opt to dig into capital reserves or take on debt to maintain the dividend. For dividend paying companies, any reduction in the dividend can significantly impact the share price.
