Fulcrum begins dosing in late-stage study of losmapimod for rare muscle disorder
Fulcrum Therapeutics (NASDAQ:FULC) said the first patient was dosed in a phase 3 trial of losmapimod to treat Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD). FSHD is a rare progressive disorder characterized by muscle weakness and wasting and initially affects the face, shoulder blades and upper arms. The study, dubbed REACH, will enroll ~230 adults at over 30 sites in North America and Europe and evaluate losmapimod, given orally as a 15-mg tablet twice a day, against placebo. The company said that a phase 2 trial, called ReDUX4, showed that losmapimod was superior to placebo and slowed disease progression and helped maintain function in adults with FSHD.Seeking Alpha • Jun 27
