We Ran A Stock Scan For Earnings Growth And IBEX (NASDAQ:IBEX) Passed With Ease
Investors are often guided by the idea of discovering 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without any revenue, let alone profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.
So if this idea of high risk and high reward doesn't suit, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like IBEX (NASDAQ:IBEX). While profit isn't the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it's worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.
Our analysis indicates that IBEX is potentially undervalued!
How Fast Is IBEX Growing?
If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS) outcomes. That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Over the last three years, IBEX has grown EPS by 7.0% per year. While that sort of growth rate isn't anything to write home about, it does show the business is growing.
It's often helpful to take a look at earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. While we note IBEX achieved similar EBIT margins to last year, revenue grew by a solid 11% to US$494m. That's encouraging news for the company!
In the chart below, you can see how the company has grown earnings and revenue, over time. For finer detail, click on the image.
While we live in the present moment, there's little doubt that the future matters most in the investment decision process. So why not check this interactive chart depicting future EPS estimates, for IBEX?
Are IBEX Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It should give investors a sense of security owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, creating a close alignment their interests. So it is good to see that IBEX insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Given insiders own a significant chunk of shares, currently valued at US$86m, they have plenty of motivation to push the business to succeed. That holding amounts to 21% of the stock on issue, thus making insiders influential owners of the business and aligned with the interests of shareholders.
Is IBEX Worth Keeping An Eye On?
One important encouraging feature of IBEX is that it is growing profits. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. The combination definitely favoured by investors so consider keeping the company on a watchlist. Of course, just because IBEX is growing does not mean it is undervalued. If you're wondering about the valuation, check out this gauge of its price-to-earnings ratio, as compared to its industry.
There's always the possibility of doing well buying stocks that are not growing earnings and do not have insiders buying shares. But for those who consider these important metrics, we encourage you to check out companies that do have those features. You can access a free list of them here.
