fuboTV Inc. (NYSE:FUBO) shares have continued their recent momentum with a 35% gain in the last month alone. The bad news is that even after the stocks recovery in the last 30 days, shareholders are still underwater by about 5.4% over the last year.

Even after such a large jump in price, fuboTV may still be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.4x, considering almost half of all companies in the Interactive Media and Services industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 1.4x and even P/S higher than 4x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

What Does fuboTV's P/S Mean For Shareholders?

With revenue growth that's superior to most other companies of late, fuboTV has been doing relatively well. One possibility is that the P/S ratio is low because investors think this strong revenue performance might be less impressive moving forward. If you like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Keen to find out how analysts think fuboTV's future stacks up against the industry? In that case, our free report is a great place to start.

How Is fuboTV's Revenue Growth Trending?

fuboTV's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.

Taking a look back first, we see that the company grew revenue by an impressive 29% last year. The strong recent performance means it was also able to grow revenue by 266% in total over the last three years. So we can start by confirming that the company has done a great job of growing revenue over that time.

Looking ahead now, revenue is anticipated to climb by 13% during the coming year according to the nine analysts following the company. Meanwhile, the rest of the industry is forecast to expand by 13%, which is not materially different.

In light of this, it's peculiar that fuboTV's P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It may be that most investors are not convinced the company can achieve future growth expectations.

The Final Word

Despite fuboTV's share price climbing recently, its P/S still lags most other companies. While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.

It looks to us like the P/S figures for fuboTV remain low despite growth that is expected to be in line with other companies in the industry. When we see middle-of-the-road revenue growth like this, we assume it must be the potential risks that are what is placing pressure on the P/S ratio. Perhaps investors are concerned that the company could underperform against the forecasts over the near term.
