Celebrations may be in order for Gambling.com Group Limited (NASDAQ:GAMB) shareholders, with the analysts delivering a significant upgrade to their statutory estimates for the company. The revenue forecast for next year has experienced a facelift, with the analysts now much more optimistic on its sales pipeline.

Following the upgrade, the latest consensus from Gambling.com Group's three analysts is for revenues of US$71m in 2022, which would reflect a sizeable 69% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are anticipated to fall 13% to US$0.51 in the same period. Previously, the analysts had been modelling revenues of US$63m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.50 in 2022. It seems analyst sentiment has certainly become more bullish on revenues, even though they haven't changed their view on earnings per share.

NasdaqGM:GAMB Earnings and Revenue Growth February 9th 2022

The consensus price target increased 6.8% to US$15.67, with an improved revenue forecast carrying the promise of a more valuable business, in time. Fixating on a single price target can be unwise though, since the consensus target is effectively the average of analyst price targets. As a result, some investors like to look at the range of estimates to see if there are any diverging opinions on the company's valuation. The most optimistic Gambling.com Group analyst has a price target of US$16.00 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at US$13.00. Even so, with a relatively close grouping of estimates, it looks like the analysts are quite confident in their valuations, suggesting Gambling.com Group is an easy business to forecast or the underlying assumptions are obvious.

Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. The analysts are definitely expecting Gambling.com Group's growth to accelerate, with the forecast 52% annualised growth to the end of 2022 ranking favourably alongside historical growth of 32% per annum over the past three years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to grow their revenue at 4.1% per year. It seems obvious that, while the growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, the analysts also expect Gambling.com Group to grow faster than the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The most obvious conclusion from this consensus update is that there's been no major change in the business' prospects in recent times, with analysts holding earnings per share steady, in line with previous estimates. Fortunately, analysts also upgraded their revenue estimates, and our data indicates sales are expected to perform better than the wider market. There was also an increase in the price target, suggesting that there is more optimism baked into the forecasts than there was previously. Seeing the dramatic upgrade to next year's forecasts, it might be time to take another look at Gambling.com Group.

Still, the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Gambling.com Group going out to 2023, and you can see them free on our platform here..
