If EPS Growth Is Important To You, AptarGroup (NYSE:ATR) Presents An Opportunity
Investors are often guided by the idea of discovering 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without any revenue, let alone profit. But as Peter Lynch said in One Up On Wall Street, 'Long shots almost never pay off.' While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.
So if this idea of high risk and high reward doesn't suit, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like AptarGroup (NYSE:ATR). While this doesn't necessarily speak to whether it's undervalued, the profitability of the business is enough to warrant some appreciation - especially if its growing.

AptarGroup's Earnings Per Share Are Growing
The market is a voting machine in the short term, but a weighing machine in the long term, so you'd expect share price to follow earnings per share (EPS) outcomes eventually. That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Over the last three years, AptarGroup has grown EPS by 9.4% per year. That's a good rate of growth, if it can be sustained.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. While we note AptarGroup achieved similar EBIT margins to last year, revenue grew by a solid 3.1% to US$3.4b. That's a real positive.

Are AptarGroup Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
We would not expect to see insiders owning a large percentage of a US$8.4b company like AptarGroup. But thanks to their investment in the company, it's pleasing to see that there are still incentives to align their actions with the shareholders. With a whopping US$52m worth of shares as a group, insiders have plenty riding on the company's success. That's certainly enough to let shareholders know that management will be very focussed on long term growth.
Does AptarGroup Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
As previously touched on, AptarGroup is a growing business, which is encouraging. To add an extra spark to the fire, significant insider ownership in the company is another highlight.
