Pulmonx Repeat Insider Selling Not A Positive Indicator
A number of Pulmonx Corporation (NASDAQ:LUNG) insiders sold their shares in the last year, which may have raised concerns among investors. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Pulmonx
The CEO, President & Director Steven Williamson made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$97k worth of shares at a price of US$6.84 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is US$6.88. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider bought shares at close to current prices. Steven Williamson was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.
In total, Pulmonx insiders sold more than they bought over the last year. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Pulmonx Insiders Are Selling The Stock

Insider Ownership Of Pulmonx
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Pulmonx insiders own about US$10m worth of shares. That equates to 4.2% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
