Here's Why We Think IRadimed (NASDAQ:IRMD) Is Well Worth Watching
For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it currently lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But as Peter Lynch said in One Up On Wall Street, 'Long shots almost never pay off.' A loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the inflow of external capital may dry up.
Despite being in the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, many investors still adopt a more traditional strategy; buying shares in profitable companies like IRadimed (NASDAQ:IRMD). Now this is not to say that the company presents the best investment opportunity around, but profitability is a key component to success in business.

How Fast Is IRadimed Growing?
If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS) outcomes. So it makes sense that experienced investors pay close attention to company EPS when undertaking investment research. Over the last three years, IRadimed has grown EPS by 9.9% per year. That growth rate is fairly good, assuming the company can keep it up.
Top-line growth is a great indicator that growth is sustainable, and combined with a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin, it's a great way for a company to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. The good news is that IRadimed is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 6.1 percentage points to 28%, over the last year. Both of which are great metrics to check off for potential growth.

While it's always good to see growing profits, you should always remember that a weak balance sheet could come back to bite. So check IRadimed's balance sheet strength, before getting too excited.
Are IRadimed Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Theory would suggest that it's an encouraging sign to see high insider ownership of a company, since it ties company performance directly to the financial success of its management. So those who are interested in IRadimed will be delighted to know that insiders have shown their belief, holding a large proportion of the company's shares. Actually, with 43% of the company to their names, insiders are profoundly invested in the business. Shareholders and speculators should be reassured by this kind of alignment, as it suggests the business will be run for the benefit of shareholders. At the current share price, that insider holding is worth a staggering US$211m. That means they have plenty of their own capital riding on the performance of the business!
While it's always good to see some strong conviction in the company from insiders through heavy investment, it's also important for shareholders to ask if management compensation policies are reasonable. A brief analysis of the CEO compensation suggests they are. Our analysis has discovered that the median total compensation for the CEOs of companies like IRadimed with market caps between US$200m and US$800m is about US$2.6m.
The IRadimed CEO received total compensation of just US$615k in the year to December 2021. That looks like a modest pay packet, and may hint at a certain respect for the interests of shareholders. CEO compensation is hardly the most important aspect of a company to consider, but when it's reasonable, that gives a little more confidence that leadership are looking out for shareholder interests. Generally, arguments can be made that reasonable pay levels attest to good decision-making.
Does IRadimed Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
One important encouraging feature of IRadimed is that it is growing profits. The growth of EPS may be the eye-catching headline for IRadimed, but there's more to bring joy for shareholders. With company insiders aligning themselves considerably with the company's success and modest CEO compensation, there's no arguments that this is a stock worth looking into. You still need to take note of risks, for example - IRadimed has 3 warning signs (and 1 which is potentially serious) we think you should know about.
Although IRadimed certainly looks good, it may appeal to more investors if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
