Everi Holdings (NYSE:EVRI) Is Doing The Right Things To Multiply Its Share Price
If we want to find a stock that could multiply over the long term, what are the underlying trends we should look for? In a perfect world, we'd like to see a company investing more capital into its business and ideally the returns earned from that capital are also increasing. Ultimately, this demonstrates that it's a business that is reinvesting profits at increasing rates of return. Speaking of which, we noticed some great changes in Everi Holdings' (NYSE:EVRI) returns on capital, so let's have a look.
Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?
For those who don't know, ROCE is a measure of a company's yearly pre-tax profit (its return), relative to the capital employed in the business. The formula for this calculation on Everi Holdings is:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.17 = US$210m ÷ (US$1.7b - US$448m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to September 2022).
So, Everi Holdings has an ROCE of 17%. In absolute terms, that's a satisfactory return, but compared to the Hospitality industry average of 11% it's much better.
Our analysis indicates that EVRI is potentially undervalued!
In the above chart we have measured Everi Holdings' prior ROCE against its prior performance, but the future is arguably more important. If you'd like to see what analysts are forecasting going forward, you should check out our free report for Everi Holdings.
The Trend Of ROCE
Everi Holdings' ROCE growth is quite impressive. The figures show that over the last five years, ROCE has grown 167% whilst employing roughly the same amount of capital. Basically the business is generating higher returns from the same amount of capital and that is proof that there are improvements in the company's efficiencies. On that front, things are looking good so it's worth exploring what management has said about growth plans going forward.
The Bottom Line
As discussed above, Everi Holdings appears to be getting more proficient at generating returns since capital employed has remained flat but earnings (before interest and tax) are up. And with the stock having performed exceptionally well over the last five years, these patterns are being accounted for by investors. Therefore, we think it would be worth your time to check if these trends are going to continue.
