We'd be surprised if Accel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:ACEL) shareholders haven't noticed that the Vice Chairman of the Board, Gordon Rubenstein, recently sold US$456k worth of stock at US$12.00 per share. However, the silver lining is that the sale only reduced their total holding by 1.6%, so we're hesitant to read anything much into it, on its own.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Accel Entertainment

In fact, the recent sale by Vice Chairman of the Board Gordon Rubenstein was not their only sale of Accel Entertainment shares this year. They previously made an even bigger sale of -US$1.4m worth of shares at a price of US$9.59 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$11.34. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was only 5.5% of Gordon Rubenstein's holding.
