Here's Why I Think G. Willi-Food International (NASDAQ:WILC) Is An Interesting Stock
Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.
In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like G. Willi-Food International (NASDAQ:WILC). Now, I'm not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can't shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

G. Willi-Food International's Improving Profits
Over the last three years, G. Willi-Food International has grown earnings per share (EPS) like young bamboo after rain; fast, and from a low base. So I don't think the percent growth rate is particularly meaningful. As a result, I'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. Like a wedge-tailed eagle on the wind, G. Willi-Food International's EPS soared from ₪2.92 to ₪3.95, in just one year. That's a commendable gain of 35%.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. G. Willi-Food International maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 19% to ₪448m. That's a real positive.

Are G. Willi-Food International Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own G. Willi-Food International shares worth a considerable sum. Indeed, they hold ₪17m worth of its stock. That shows significant buy-in, and may indicate conviction in the business strategy. Those holdings account for over 5.3% of the company; visible skin in the game.
Should You Add G. Willi-Food International To Your Watchlist?
Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about G. Willi-Food International's strong EPS growth. I think that EPS growth is something to boast of, and it doesn't surprise me that insiders are holding on to a considerable chunk of shares. Fast growth and confident insiders should be enough to warrant further research. So the answer is that I do think this is a good stock to follow along with. What about risks?
