We Think Dream Finders Homes (NYSE:DFH) Can Stay On Top Of Its Debt
Legendary fund manager Li Lu (who Charlie Munger backed) once said, 'The biggest investment risk is not the volatility of prices, but whether you will suffer a permanent loss of capital.' So it might be obvious that you need to consider debt, when you think about how risky any given stock is, because too much debt can sink a company. As with many other companies Dream Finders Homes, Inc. (NYSE:DFH) makes use of debt. But is this debt a concern to shareholders?

How Strong Is Dream Finders Homes' Balance Sheet?
We can see from the most recent balance sheet that Dream Finders Homes had liabilities of US$258.3m falling due within a year, and liabilities of US$1.31b due beyond that. Offsetting these obligations, it had cash of US$239.4m as well as receivables valued at US$28.2m due within 12 months. So it has liabilities totalling US$1.30b more than its cash and near-term receivables, combined.

For example, its conversion of EBIT to free cash flow makes us a little nervous about its debt. Looking at all this data makes us feel a little cautious about Dream Finders Homes's debt levels. While we appreciate debt can enhance returns on equity, we'd suggest that shareholders keep close watch on its debt levels, lest they increase.
