Not Many Are Piling Into Nocera, Inc. (NASDAQ:NCRA) Stock Yet As It Plummets 32%
The Nocera, Inc. (NASDAQ:NCRA) share price has fared very poorly over the last month, falling by a substantial 32%. Instead of being rewarded, shareholders who have already held through the last twelve months are now sitting on a 47% share price drop.
In spite of the heavy fall in price, there still wouldn't be many who think Nocera's price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.4x is worth a mention when the median P/S in the United States' Construction industry is similar at about 0.9x. While this might not raise any eyebrows, if the P/S ratio is not justified investors could be missing out on a potential opportunity or ignoring looming disappointment.

What Does Nocera's Recent Performance Look Like?
Nocera certainly has been doing a great job lately as it's been growing its revenue at a really rapid pace. Perhaps the market is expecting future revenue performance to taper off, which has kept the P/S from rising. If that doesn't eventuate, then existing shareholders have reason to be feeling optimistic about the future direction of the share price.

The only time you'd be comfortable seeing a P/S like Nocera's is when the company's growth is tracking the industry closely.
If we review the last year of revenue growth, the company posted a terrific increase of 66%. This great performance means it was also able to deliver immense revenue growth over the last three years. Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.
Comparing that recent medium-term revenue trajectory with the industry's one-year growth forecast of 11% shows it's noticeably more attractive.
In light of this, it's curious that Nocera's P/S sits in line with the majority of other companies. Apparently some shareholders believe the recent performance is at its limits and have been accepting lower selling prices.
What We Can Learn From Nocera's P/S?
Following Nocera's share price tumble, its P/S is just clinging on to the industry median P/S. Using the price-to-sales ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.
We've established that Nocera currently trades on a lower than expected P/S since its recent three-year growth is higher than the wider industry forecast. It'd be fair to assume that potential risks the company faces could be the contributing factor to the lower than expected P/S. At least the risk of a price drop looks to be subdued if recent medium-term revenue trends continue, but investors seem to think future revenue could see some volatility.
