Reversal Of Fortune For BAIYU Holdings Insiders Who Made A US$20.9m Purchase
Insiders who bought US$20.9m worth of BAIYU Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:BYU) stock in the last year recovered part of their losses as the stock rose by 14% last week. However, total losses seen by insiders are still US$7.9m since the time of purchase.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At BAIYU Holdings
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Katie Ou bought US$7.3m worth of shares at a price of US$2.09 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$1.30 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Does BAIYU Holdings Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. BAIYU Holdings insiders own 57% of the company, currently worth about US$14m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
