Have Insiders Been Buying First Busey Corporation (NASDAQ:BUSE) Shares?
We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. On the other hand, we'd be remiss not to mention that insider sales have been known to precede tough periods for a business. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in First Busey Corporation (NASDAQ:BUSE).
What Is Insider Buying?
Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock in the company. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.
We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

First Busey Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Independent Director Stephen King made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$499k worth of shares at a price of US$18.44 each. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$25.74. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.
