Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the BCB Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCBP) Independent Chairman of the Board, Mark Hogan, recently bought US$80k worth of stock, for US$8.04 per share. Although the purchase is not a big one, increasing their shareholding by only 1.4%, it can be interpreted as a good sign.
BCB Bancorp Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Executive VP, Ryan Blake, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$113k worth of shares at a price of US$13.06 each. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$8.09. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price. Ryan Blake was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.
In the last twelve months insiders purchased 21.75k shares for US$194k. On the other hand they divested 8.68k shares, for US$113k. In total, BCB Bancorp insiders bought more than they sold over the last year. Their average price was about US$8.90. I'd consider this a positive as it suggests insiders see value at around the current price. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
