Alleima's (STO:ALLEI) Shareholders Will Receive A Bigger Dividend Than Last Year
Alleima AB (publ) (STO:ALLEI) will increase its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 6th of May to SEK2.30. Even though the dividend went up, the yield is still quite low at only 3.0%.
Alleima's Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage
It would be nice for the yield to be higher, but we should also check if higher levels of dividend payment would be sustainable. However, prior to this announcement, Alleima's dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 25.0% over the next year. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 29% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range.

Alleima Doesn't Have A Long Payment History
The company has maintained a consistent dividend for a few years now, but we would like to see a longer track record before relying on it. The dividend has gone from an annual total of SEK1.40 in 2023 to the most recent total annual payment of SEK2.30. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 28% per annum over that time. We're not overly excited about the relatively short history of dividend payments, however the dividend is growing at a nice rate and we might take a closer look.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. Alleima has impressed us by growing EPS at 19% per year over the past five years. A low payout ratio and decent growth suggests that the company is reinvesting well, and it also has plenty of room to increase the dividend over time.
Alleima Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that Alleima is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. The company is easily earning enough to cover its dividend payments and it is great to see that these earnings are being translated into cash flow. Taking this all into consideration, this looks like it could be a good dividend opportunity.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one. However, there are other things to consider for investors when analysing stock performance. Earnings growth generally bodes well for the future value of company dividend payments.
