Implantica AG (STO:IMP A SDB) insiders who purchased shares in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The stock climbed by 11% resulting in a kr963m addition to the company’s market value. As a result, the stock they originally bought for €1.22m is now worth €1.41m.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Implantica Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Nicole Pehrsson for kr1.2m worth of shares, at about kr28.60 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of kr33.00. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Implantica insiders own 88% of the company, worth about kr8.2b. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
