Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. And in their study titled Who Falls Prey to the Wolf of Wall Street?' Leuz et. al. found that it is 'quite common' for investors to lose money by buying into 'pump and dump' schemes.

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like L E Lundbergföretagen (STO:LUND B), which has not only revenues, but also profits. While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

How Fast Is L E Lundbergföretagen Growing?

If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. Therefore, there are plenty of investors who like to buy shares in companies that are growing EPS. Impressively, L E Lundbergföretagen has grown EPS by 27% per year, compound, in the last three years. If the company can sustain that sort of growth, we'd expect shareholders to come away winners.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. I note that L E Lundbergföretagen's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue in the last twelve months, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. L E Lundbergföretagen shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 14% to 43%, and revenue is growing. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Are L E Lundbergföretagen Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Like that fresh smell in the air when the rains are coming, insider buying fills me with optimistic anticipation. That's because insider buying often indicates that those closest to the company have confidence that the share price will perform well. Of course, we can never be sure what insiders are thinking, we can only judge their actions.

It's a pleasure to note that insiders spent kr69m buying L E Lundbergföretagen shares, over the last year, without reporting any share sales whatsoever. As if for a flower bud approaching bloom, I become an expectant observer, anticipating with hope, that something splendid is coming. We also note that it was the President, Fredrik Lundberg, who made the biggest single acquisition, paying kr36m for shares at about kr464 each.

And the insider buying isn't the only sign of alignment between shareholders and the board, since L E Lundbergföretagen insiders own more than a third of the company. Indeed, with a collective holding of 71%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. At the current share price, that insider holding is worth a whopping kr97b. That means they have plenty of their own capital riding on the performance of the business!

While insiders already own a significant amount of shares, and they have been buying more, the good news for ordinary shareholders does not stop there. That's because on our analysis the CEO, Fredrik Lundberg, is paid less than the median for similar sized companies. For companies with market capitalizations over kr68b, like L E Lundbergföretagen, the median CEO pay is around kr21m.

The CEO of L E Lundbergföretagen only received kr1.5m in total compensation for the year ending . That looks like modest pay to me, and may hint at a certain respect for the interests of shareholders. While the level of CEO compensation isn't a huge factor in my view of the company, modest remuneration is a positive, because it suggests that the board keeps shareholder interests in mind. I'd also argue reasonable pay levels attest to good decision making more generally.

Should You Add L E Lundbergföretagen To Your Watchlist?

Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about L E Lundbergföretagen's strong EPS growth. Not only that, but we can see that insiders both own a lot of, and are buying more, shares in the company. So I do think this is one stock worth watching.
