Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. But as Warren Buffett has mused, 'If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.' When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.
If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Plejd (NGM:PLEJD). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

Plejd's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
As one of my mentors once told me, share price follows earnings per share (EPS). It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. Who among us would not applaud Plejd's stratospheric annual EPS growth of 43%, compound, over the last three years? While that sort of growth rate isn't sustainable for long, it certainly catches my attention; like a crow with a sparkly stone.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. The good news is that Plejd is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 9.2 percentage points to 11%, over the last year. That's great to see, on both counts.

While it's always good to see growing profits, you should always remember that a weak balance sheet could come back to bite. So check Plejd's balance sheet strength, before getting too excited.
Are Plejd Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own Plejd shares worth a considerable sum. Indeed, they hold kr362m worth of its stock. That shows significant buy-in, and may indicate conviction in the business strategy. That amounts to 9.6% of the company, demonstrating a degree of high-level alignment with shareholders.
Does Plejd Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
Plejd's earnings per share have taken off like a rocket aimed right at the moon. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. The hope is, of course, that the strong growth marks a fundamental improvement in the business economics. So yes, on this short analysis I do think it's worth considering Plejd for a spot on your watchlist. You still need to take note of risks, for example - Plejd has 3 warning signs (and 1 which is a bit unpleasant) we think you should know about.
