One Totens Sparebank (OB:TOTG) Analyst Has Been Cutting Their Forecasts
The analyst covering Totens Sparebank (OB:TOTG) delivered a dose of negativity to shareholders today, by making a substantial revision to their statutory forecasts for next year. There was a fairly draconian cut to their revenue estimates, perhaps an implicit admission that previous forecasts were much too optimistic.
After the downgrade, the consensus from Totens Sparebank's one analyst is for revenues of kr418m in 2023, which would reflect an uneasy 13% decline in sales compared to the last year of performance. Statutory earnings per share are presumed to rise 9.9% to kr20.80. Previously, the analyst had been modelling revenues of kr505m and earnings per share (EPS) of kr21.37 in 2023. Indeed, we can see that analyst sentiment has declined measurably after the new consensus came out, with a substantial drop in revenue estimates and a small dip in EPS estimates to boot.
Our analysis indicates that TOTG is potentially undervalued!
The consensus price target fell 8.7% to kr210, with the weaker earnings outlook clearly leading analyst valuation estimates.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. These estimates imply that sales are expected to slow, with a forecast annualised revenue decline of 11% by the end of 2023. This indicates a significant reduction from annual growth of 3.5% over the last five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in the same industry are forecast to see their revenue grow 7.0% annually for the foreseeable future. It's pretty clear that Totens Sparebank's revenues are expected to perform substantially worse than the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The biggest issue in the new estimates is that the analyst has reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds lay ahead for Totens Sparebank. Regrettably, they also downgraded their revenue estimates, and the latest forecasts imply the business will grow sales slower than the wider market. Furthermore, there was a cut to the price target, suggesting that the latest news has led to more pessimism about the intrinsic value of the business. Overall, given the drastic downgrade to next year's forecasts, we'd be feeling a little more wary of Totens Sparebank going forwards.
