Insiders At Randstad Sold €1.9m In Stock, Alluding To Potential Weakness
Over the past year, many Randstad N.V. (AMS:RAND) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Randstad
The COO, Chief Executive for Northern Europe & Executive Board Member, Chris Heutink, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for €1.8m worth of shares at a price of €51.60 each. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (€42.10). So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 0.09% of Randstad shares, worth about €6.9m, according to our data. However, it's possible that insiders might have an indirect interest through a more complex structure. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
