Insiders were net sellers of Arcadis NV's (AMS:ARCAD ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders sold more stock than they bought.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Arcadis

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the CFO & Member of Executive Board, Virginie J. Duperat-Vergne, sold €673k worth of shares at a price of €59.91 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is €43.18. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price. Virginie J. Duperat-Vergne was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

Does Arcadis Boast High Insider Ownership?

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Arcadis insiders own 0.6% of the company, worth about €22m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Arcadis Tell Us?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. Our analysis of Arcadis insider transactions leaves us cautious.
