Here's Why We Think MNtech (KOSDAQ:095500) Is Well Worth Watching

It's only natural that many investors, especially those who are new to the game, prefer to buy shares in 'sexy' stocks with a good story, even if those businesses lose money. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like MNtech (KOSDAQ:095500), which has not only revenues, but also profits. While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

How Fast Is MNtech Growing?

The market is a voting machine in the short term, but a weighing machine in the long term, so share price follows earnings per share (EPS) eventually. That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Impressively, MNtech has grown EPS by 32% per year, compound, in the last three years. If the company can sustain that sort of growth, we'd expect shareholders to come away winners.

One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. Not all of MNtech's revenue this year is revenue from operations, so keep in mind the revenue and margin numbers I've used might not be the best representation of the underlying business. MNtech shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 0.9% to 8.0%, and revenue is growing. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Since MNtech is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₩104b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are MNtech Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own MNtech shares worth a considerable sum. Indeed, they hold ₩25b worth of its stock. That's a lot of money, and no small incentive to work hard. That amounts to 24% of the company, demonstrating a degree of high-level alignment with shareholders.

Should You Add MNtech To Your Watchlist?

Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about MNtech's strong EPS growth. I think that EPS growth is something to boast of, and it doesn't surprise me that insiders are holding on to a considerable chunk of shares. So this is very likely the kind of business that I like to spend time researching, with a view to discerning its true value. Even so, be aware that MNtech is showing 3 warning signs in our investment analysis , and 1 of those doesn't sit too well with us...
