Market Might Still Lack Some Conviction On CNPLUS Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ:115530) Even After 27% Share Price Boost
The CNPLUS Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ:115530) share price has done very well over the last month, posting an excellent gain of 27%. Looking further back, the 12% rise over the last twelve months isn't too bad notwithstanding the strength over the last 30 days.
Although its price has surged higher, there still wouldn't be many who think CNPLUS' price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 1x is worth a mention when the median P/S in Korea's Electrical industry is similar at about 1.1x. Although, it's not wise to simply ignore the P/S without explanation as investors may be disregarding a distinct opportunity or a costly mistake.

What Does CNPLUS' P/S Mean For Shareholders?
As an illustration, revenue has deteriorated at CNPLUS over the last year, which is not ideal at all. Perhaps investors believe the recent revenue performance is enough to keep in line with the industry, which is keeping the P/S from dropping off. If not, then existing shareholders may be a little nervous about the viability of the share price.

In order to justify its P/S ratio, CNPLUS would need to produce growth that's similar to the industry.
Taking a look back first, the company's revenue growth last year wasn't something to get excited about as it posted a disappointing decline of 26%. Still, the latest three year period has seen an excellent 31% overall rise in revenue, in spite of its unsatisfying short-term performance. Although it's been a bumpy ride, it's still fair to say the revenue growth recently has been more than adequate for the company.
When compared to the industry's one-year growth forecast of 4.2%, the most recent medium-term revenue trajectory is noticeably more alluring
With this information, we find it interesting that CNPLUS is trading at a fairly similar P/S compared to the industry. Apparently some shareholders believe the recent performance is at its limits and have been accepting lower selling prices.
The Final Word
CNPLUS' stock has a lot of momentum behind it lately, which has brought its P/S level with the rest of the industry. While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.
We've established that CNPLUS currently trades on a lower than expected P/S since its recent three-year growth is higher than the wider industry forecast. There could be some unobserved threats to revenue preventing the P/S ratio from matching this positive performance. It appears some are indeed anticipating revenue instability, because the persistence of these recent medium-term conditions would normally provide a boost to the share price.
You always need to take note of risks, for example - CNPLUS has 2 warning signs we think you should be aware of.
