I-ne (TSE:4933) Has Announced That It Will Be Increasing Its Dividend To ¥15.00
I-ne CO., LTD. (TSE:4933) has announced that it will be increasing its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 16th of March to ¥15.00. Despite this raise, the dividend yield of 1.1% is only a modest boost to shareholder returns.
I-ne's Projected Earnings Seem Likely To Cover Future Distributions
It would be nice for the yield to be higher, but we should also check if higher levels of dividend payment would be sustainable. However, I-ne's earnings easily cover the dividend. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 7.3% over the next year. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 9.5% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

I-ne Doesn't Have A Long Payment History
Without a track record of dividend payments, we can't make a judgement on how stable it has been. This doesn't mean that the company can't pay a good dividend, but just that we want to wait until it can prove itself.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. It's encouraging to see that I-ne has been growing its earnings per share at 19% a year over the past five years. With a decent amount of growth and a low payout ratio, we think this bodes well for I-ne's prospects of growing its dividend payments in the future.
I-ne Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
In summary, it is always positive to see the dividend being increased, and we are particularly pleased with its overall sustainability. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one. However, there are other things to consider for investors when analysing stock performance. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 1 warning sign for I-ne that investors need to be conscious of moving forward.
