Last week, you might have seen that DiaSorin S.p.A. (BIT:DIA) released its interim result to the market. The early response was not positive, with shares down 2.3% to €101 in the past week. It was an okay result overall, with revenues coming in at €589m, roughly what the analysts had been expecting. Earnings are an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance, look at what the analysts are forecasting for next year, and see if there's been a change in sentiment towards the company. We've gathered the most recent statutory forecasts to see whether the analysts have changed their earnings models, following these results.

BIT:DIA Earnings and Revenue Growth August 1st 2024

Taking into account the latest results, the most recent consensus for DiaSorin from ten analysts is for revenues of €1.19b in 2024. If met, it would imply a satisfactory 2.5% increase on its revenue over the past 12 months. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of €1.19b and earnings per share (EPS) of €3.30 in 2024. So we can see that while the consensus made no real change to its revenue estimates, it also no longer provides an earnings per share estimate. This suggests that revenues are what the market is focusing on after the latest results.

We'd also point out that thatthe analysts have made no major changes to their price target of €103. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. There are some variant perceptions on DiaSorin, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at €126 and the most bearish at €82.00 per share. As you can see, analysts are not all in agreement on the stock's future, but the range of estimates is still reasonably narrow, which could suggest that the outcome is not totally unpredictable.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that DiaSorin's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2024 expected to display 5.1% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 12% over the past five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 7.1% per year. So it's pretty clear that, while revenue growth is expected to slow down, the wider industry is also expected to grow faster than DiaSorin.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that the analysts reconfirmed their revenue estimates for next year, suggesting that the business is performing in line with expectations. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
