Fincantieri S.p.A. (BIT:FCT) Analysts Are Pretty Bullish On The Stock After Recent Results
Last week, you might have seen that Fincantieri S.p.A. (BIT:FCT) released its interim result to the market. The early response was not positive, with shares down 4.4% to €5.09 in the past week. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. With this in mind, we've gathered the latest statutory forecasts to see what the analysts are expecting for next year.
View our latest analysis for Fincantieri
Following the latest results, Fincantieri's six analysts are now forecasting revenues of €8.04b in 2024. This would be a credible 7.8% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. The loss per share is expected to greatly reduce in the near future, narrowing 41% to €0.11. Before this latest report, the consensus had been expecting revenues of €8.06b and €0.046 per share in losses. While this year's revenue estimates held steady, there was also a massive increase in loss per share expectations, suggesting the consensus has a bit of a mixed view on the stock.
Although the analysts are now forecasting higher losses, the average price target rose 9.2% to 5.224, which could indicate that these losses are expected to be "one-off", or are not anticipated to have a longer-term impact on the business. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Fincantieri at €6.50 per share, while the most bearish prices it at €3.70. Analysts definitely have varying views on the business, but the spread of estimates is not wide enough in our view to suggest that extreme outcomes could await Fincantieri shareholders.
These estimates are interesting, but it can be useful to paint some more broad strokes when seeing how forecasts compare, both to the Fincantieri's past performance and to peers in the same industry. The analysts are definitely expecting Fincantieri's growth to accelerate, with the forecast 16% annualised growth to the end of 2024 ranking favourably alongside historical growth of 7.2% per annum over the past five years. Compare this with other companies in the same industry, which are forecast to grow their revenue 4.9% annually. It seems obvious that, while the growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, the analysts also expect Fincantieri to grow faster than the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The most important thing to take away is that the analysts increased their loss per share estimates for next year. Fortunately, they also reconfirmed their revenue numbers, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Additionally, our data suggests that revenue is expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was also a nice increase in the price target, with the analysts clearly feeling that the intrinsic value of the business is improving.
Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Fincantieri going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here..
That said, it's still necessary to consider the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 2 warning signs with Fincantieri (at least 1 which shouldn't be ignored) , and understanding them should be part of your investment process.
