Even With A 25% Surge, Cautious Investors Are Not Rewarding JITF Infralogistics Limited's (NSE:JITFINFRA) Performance Completely

Published
NSEI:JITFINFRA

The JITF Infralogistics Limited (NSE:JITFINFRA) share price has done very well over the last month, posting an excellent gain of 25%. The last 30 days bring the annual gain to a very sharp 91%.

In spite of the firm bounce in price, JITF Infralogistics may still be sending very bullish signals at the moment with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.8x, since almost half of all companies in the Infrastructure industry in India have P/S ratios greater than 4.4x and even P/S higher than 10x are not unusual. Nonetheless, we'd need to dig a little deeper to determine if there is a rational basis for the highly reduced P/S.

How JITF Infralogistics Has Been Performing

With revenue growth that's exceedingly strong of late, JITF Infralogistics has been doing very well. It might be that many expect the strong revenue performance to degrade substantially, which has repressed the P/S ratio. If you like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

We don't have analyst forecasts, but you can see how recent trends are setting up the company for the future by checking out our free report on JITF Infralogistics' earnings, revenue and cash flow.

Do Revenue Forecasts Match The Low P/S Ratio?

In order to justify its P/S ratio, JITF Infralogistics would need to produce anemic growth that's substantially trailing the industry.

Taking a look back first, we see that the company grew revenue by an impressive 63% last year. The strong recent performance means it was also able to grow revenue by 211% in total over the last three years. Accordingly, shareholders would have definitely welcomed those medium-term rates of revenue growth.

This is in contrast to the rest of the industry, which is expected to grow by 11% over the next year, materially lower than the company's recent medium-term annualised growth rates.

In light of this, it's peculiar that JITF Infralogistics' P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It looks like most investors are not convinced the company can maintain its recent growth rates.

What Does JITF Infralogistics' P/S Mean For Investors?

Even after such a strong price move, JITF Infralogistics' P/S still trails the rest of the industry. While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.

Our examination of JITF Infralogistics revealed its three-year revenue trends aren't boosting its P/S anywhere near as much as we would have predicted, given they look better than current industry expectations. When we see strong revenue with faster-than-industry growth, we assume there are some significant underlying risks to the company's ability to make money which is applying downwards pressure on the P/S ratio. At least price risks look to be very low if recent medium-term revenue trends continue, but investors seem to think future revenue could see a lot of volatility.

We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 2 warning signs for JITF Infralogistics that you need to be mindful of.
