Viewing insider transactions for Marico Limited's (NSE:MARICO ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net sellers. This means that a larger number of shares were sold by insiders in relation to shares purchased.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Marico Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the insider, Preeti Shah, sold ₹200m worth of shares at a price of ₹500 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of ₹633. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. It is worth noting that this sale was 100% of Preeti Shah's holding. Preeti Shah was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership Of Marico
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It's great to see that Marico insiders own 13% of the company, worth about ₹103b. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Marico Insiders?
It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded Marico shares in the last quarter. While we feel good about high insider ownership of Marico, we can't say the same about the selling of shares.
