If You Like EPS Growth Then Check Out Inventure Growth & Securities (NSE:INVENTURE) Before It's Too Late
It's only natural that many investors, especially those who are new to the game, prefer to buy shares in 'sexy' stocks with a good story, even if those businesses lose money. But as Warren Buffett has mused, 'If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.' When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.
In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like Inventure Growth & Securities (NSE:INVENTURE). While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

Inventure Growth & Securities's Improving Profits
Over the last three years, Inventure Growth & Securities has grown earnings per share (EPS) like young bamboo after rain; fast, and from a low base. So I don't think the percent growth rate is particularly meaningful. As a result, I'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. Like the last firework on New Year's Eve accelerating into the sky, Inventure Growth & Securities's EPS shot from ₹0.12 to ₹0.24, over the last year. Year on year growth of 101% is certainly a sight to behold. That could be a sign that the business has reached a true inflection point.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. I note that Inventure Growth & Securities's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue in the last twelve months, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. Inventure Growth & Securities maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 57% to ₹521m. That's a real positive.
In the chart below, you can see how the company has grown earnings, and revenue, over time. To see the actual numbers, click on the chart.
Since Inventure Growth & Securities is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₹2.4b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.
Are Inventure Growth & Securities Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Many consider high insider ownership to be a strong sign of alignment between the leaders of a company and the ordinary shareholders. So we're pleased to report that Inventure Growth & Securities insiders own a meaningful share of the business. In fact, they own 40% of the shares, making insiders a very influential shareholder group. I'm always comforted by solid insider ownership like this, as it implies that those running the business are genuinely motivated to create shareholder value. Valued at only ₹2.4b Inventure Growth & Securities is really small for a listed company. That means insiders only have ₹952m worth of shares, despite the large proportional holding. That might not be a huge sum but it should be enough to keep insiders motivated!
Should You Add Inventure Growth & Securities To Your Watchlist?
Inventure Growth & Securities's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. At times fast EPS growth is a sign the business has reached an inflection point; and I do like those. So yes, on this short analysis I do think it's worth considering Inventure Growth & Securities for a spot on your watchlist. It's still necessary to consider the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 3 warning signs with Inventure Growth & Securities , and understanding these should be part of your investment process.
Although Inventure Growth & Securities certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
