Last week, Ruchi Infrastructure Limited's (NSE:RUCHINFRA) stock jumped 15%, but insiders who sold ₹92m worth of stock in over the past year are likely to be in a better position. Selling at an average price of ₹14.79, which is higher than the current price, may have been the wisest decision for these insiders as their investment would have been worth less now than when they sold.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The insider, Aditi Gowani, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for ₹17m worth of shares at a price of ₹14.82 each. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is ₹11.73. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.
