C&D Property Management Group Co. Limited (HKG:2156) is reducing its dividend from last year's comparable payment to CN¥0.15 on the 6th of June. Despite the cut, the dividend yield of 5.8% will still be comparable to other companies in the industry.
C&D Property Management Group's Projected Earnings Seem Likely To Cover Future Distributions
Solid dividend yields are great, but they only really help us if the payment is sustainable. Prior to this announcement, C&D Property Management Group was quite comfortably covering its dividend with earnings and it was paying more than 75% of its free cash flow to shareholders. The company is clearly earning enough to pay this type of dividend, but it is definitely focused on returning cash to shareholders, rather than growing the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 26.6% over the next year. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 52% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 42% a year over that time. It is always nice to see strong dividend growth, but with such a short payment history we wouldn't be inclined to rely on it until a longer track record can be developed.
