Insiders who bought Intercede Group plc (LON:IGP) stock in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The company's market value increased by UK£11m as a result of the stock's 12% gain over the same period. Put another way, the original UK£191.1k acquisition is now worth UK£503.3k.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Intercede Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Non-Executive Chairman Royston Hoggarth for UK£70k worth of shares, at about UK£0.70 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of UK£1.70. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Intercede Group insiders own 8.5% of the company, worth about UK£8.5m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
