Here's Why I Think IXICO (LON:IXI) Is An Interesting Stock

Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. And in their study titled Who Falls Prey to the Wolf of Wall Street?' Leuz et. al. found that it is 'quite common' for investors to lose money by buying into 'pump and dump' schemes.

So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like IXICO (LON:IXI). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

IXICO's Improving Profits

In the last three years IXICO's earnings per share took off like a rocket; fast, and from a low base. So the actual rate of growth doesn't tell us much. As a result, I'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. Like a firecracker arcing through the night sky, IXICO's EPS shot from UK£0.015 to UK£0.028, over the last year. You don't see 89% year-on-year growth like that, very often.

I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. While we note IXICO's EBIT margins were flat over the last year, revenue grew by a solid 14% to UK£9.9m. That's a real positive.

IXICO isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of UK£36m. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.

Are IXICO Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Like standing at the lookout, surveying the horizon at sunrise, insider buying, for some investors, sparks joy. That's because insider buying often indicates that those closest to the company have confidence that the share price will perform well. However, small purchases are not always indicative of conviction, and insiders don't always get it right.

We haven't seen any insiders selling IXICO shares, in the last year. So it's definitely nice that Senior Independent Director Mark Warne bought UK£8.9k worth of shares at an average price of around UK£0.63.

Does IXICO Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?

IXICO's earnings per share growth have been levitating higher, like a mountain goat scaling the Alps. If you're like me, you'll find it hard to ignore that sort of explosive EPS growth. And in fact, it could well signal a fundamental shift in the business economics. If that's the case, you may regret neglecting to put IXICO on your watchlist.
