Should You Be Adding AS Ekspress Grupp (TAL:EEG1T) To Your Watchlist Today?
Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.
If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in AS Ekspress Grupp (TAL:EEG1T). Now, I'm not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can't shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

AS Ekspress Grupp's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. We can see that in the last three years AS Ekspress Grupp grew its EPS by 9.6% per year. That's a good rate of growth, if it can be sustained.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. AS Ekspress Grupp's EBIT margins are flat but, of some concern, its revenue is actually down. And that does make me a little more cautious of the stock.

AS Ekspress Grupp isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of €27m. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.
Are AS Ekspress Grupp Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Personally, I like to see high insider ownership of a company, since it suggests that it will be managed in the interests of shareholders. So we're pleased to report that AS Ekspress Grupp insiders own a meaningful share of the business. Indeed, with a collective holding of 62%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. To me this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. With that sort of holding, insiders have about €17m riding on the stock, at current prices. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!
Should You Add AS Ekspress Grupp To Your Watchlist?
One important encouraging feature of AS Ekspress Grupp is that it is growing profits. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. That combination appeals to me, for one. So yes, I do think the stock is worth keeping an eye on. You still need to take note of risks, for example - AS Ekspress Grupp has 3 warning signs (and 1 which is concerning) we think you should know about.
