Talanx's (ETR:TLX) Shareholders Will Receive A Bigger Dividend Than Last Year
Talanx AG (ETR:TLX) has announced that it will be increasing its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 10th of May to €2.35. This takes the annual payment to 3.2% of the current stock price, which is about average for the industry.

Talanx's Dividend Is Well Covered By Earnings
We aren't too impressed by dividend yields unless they can be sustained over time. Before making this announcement, Talanx was easily earning enough to cover the dividend. This means that most of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 27.0%. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio will be 32%, which is in the range that makes us comfortable with the sustainability of the dividend.
Talanx Has A Solid Track Record
Even over a long history of paying dividends, the company's distributions have been remarkably stable. Since 2014, the dividend has gone from €1.05 total annually to €2.35. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 8.4% a year over that time. The dividend has been growing very nicely for a number of years, and has given its shareholders some nice income in their portfolios.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Some investors will be chomping at the bit to buy some of the company's stock based on its dividend history. Talanx has impressed us by growing EPS at 17% per year over the past five years. With a decent amount of growth and a low payout ratio, we think this bodes well for Talanx's prospects of growing its dividend payments in the future.
Talanx Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.
Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. At the same time, there are other factors our readers should be conscious of before pouring capital into a stock. Earnings growth generally bodes well for the future value of company dividend payments.
