Copper Fox Metals Insiders Enjoying CA$1.0m Appreciation On CA$996.0k Investment
Insiders who bought Copper Fox Metals Inc. (CVE:CUU) stock in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The company's market value increased by CA$35m as a result of the stock's 16% gain over the same period. In other words, the original CA$996.0k purchase is now worth CA$2.03m.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Copper Fox Metals
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Director Ernesto Echavarria for CA$900k worth of shares, at about CA$0.20 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of CA$0.43. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.
While Copper Fox Metals insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Copper Fox Metals insiders own 59% of the company, currently worth about CA$147m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
So What Do The Copper Fox Metals Insider Transactions Indicate?
The recent insider purchase is heartening. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious.
