Trade Alert: The Non-executive Director Of Vonex Limited (ASX:VN8), Jason Gomersall, Has Just Spent AU$51k Buying A Few More Shares
Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Vonex Limited (ASX:VN8) Non-executive Director, Jason Gomersall, recently bought AU$51k worth of stock, for AU$0.18 per share. Nevertheless, it only increased their shareholding by a minuscule percentage, and it wasn't a massive purchase by absolute value, either.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Vonex
In fact, the recent purchase by Jason Gomersall was the biggest purchase of Vonex shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.17. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.
Vonex insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. The average buy price was around AU$0.14. Although they bought at below the recent price of AU$0.17 per share, it is good to see that insiders are willing to invest in the company. Insider Ownership of Vonex
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It appears that Vonex insiders own 16% of the company, worth about AU$4.7m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Vonex Insiders?
The recent insider purchase is heartening. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. But on the other hand, the company made a loss during the last year, which makes us a little cautious. When combined with notable insider ownership, these factors suggest Vonex insiders are well aligned, and that they may think the share price is too low. So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company. While conducting our analysis, we found that Vonex has 3 warning signs and it would be unwise to ignore these.
