Does Premier Investments (ASX:PMV) Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.
So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like Premier Investments (ASX:PMV). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

How Fast Is Premier Investments Growing?
As one of my mentors once told me, share price follows earnings per share (EPS). That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Who among us would not applaud Premier Investments's stratospheric annual EPS growth of 48%, compound, over the last three years? That sort of growth never lasts long, but like a shooting star it is well worth watching when it happens.
I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. Premier Investments shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 17% to 25%, and revenue is growing. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

The trick, as an investor, is to find companies that are going to perform well in the future, not just in the past. To that end, right now and today, you can check our visualization of consensus analyst forecasts for future Premier Investments EPS 100% free.
Are Premier Investments Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own Premier Investments shares worth a considerable sum. Indeed, they have a glittering mountain of wealth invested in it, currently valued at AU$448m. This suggests to me that leadership will be very mindful of shareholders' interests when making decisions!
Is Premier Investments Worth Keeping An Eye On?
Premier Investments's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. The hope is, of course, that the strong growth marks a fundamental improvement in the business economics. So to my mind Premier Investments is worth putting on your watchlist; after all, shareholders do well when the market underestimates fast growing companies. Even so, be aware that Premier Investments is showing 1 warning sign in our investment analysis , you should know about...
