Despite Recent Gains, Octava Minerals Insiders Are Still Down AU$55k
Some of the losses seen by insiders who purchased AU$154.8k worth of Octava Minerals Limited (ASX:OCT) shares over the past year were recovered after the stock increased by 39% over the past week. However, total losses seen by insiders are still AU$55k since the time of purchase.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Octava Minerals
The Independent Non-Executive Chairman Clayton Dodd made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$125k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.085 each. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.053. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.
Octava Minerals insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

We do note, however, it is possible insiders have an indirect interest through a private company or other corporate structure. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
