Insiders who purchased this year lose AU$31k as OFX Group Limited (ASX:OFX) stock drops to AU$1.60
The recent price decline of 12% in OFX Group Limited's (ASX:OFX) stock may have disappointed insiders who bought AU$99k worth of shares at an average price of AU$2.31 in the past 12 months. Insiders invest with the hopes of seeing their money grow in value over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth AU$69k, which is not what they expected.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At OFX Group
The CEO, MD & Executive Director John Malcolm made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$99k worth of shares at a price of AU$2.31 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than AU$1.60 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. John Malcolm was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership Of OFX Group
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that OFX Group insiders own 7.6% of the company, worth about AU$30m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
