Last week, ARC Funds Limited (ASX:ARC) insiders, who had purchased shares in the previous 12 months were rewarded handsomely. The shares increased by 14% last week, resulting in a AU$587k increase in the company's market worth, implying a 42% gain on their initial purchase. Put another way, the original AU$294.1k acquisition is now worth AU$416.5k.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

ARC Funds Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Non-Executive Director Harley Grosser made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$284k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.088 each. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (AU$0.13), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

ARC Funds insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership Of ARC Funds

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 36% of ARC Funds shares, worth about AU$1.8m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
