Polytec Holding AG (VIE:PYT) last week reported its latest second-quarter results, which makes it a good time for investors to dive in and see if the business is performing in line with expectations. Revenues were €176m, with Polytec Holding reporting some 4.3% below analyst expectations. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.

Taking into account the latest results, Polytec Holding's three analysts currently expect revenues in 2025 to be €690.8m, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Polytec Holding is also expected to turn profitable, with statutory earnings of €0.25 per share. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of €682.8m and earnings per share (EPS) of €0.19 in 2025. Although the revenue estimates have not really changed, we can see there's been a very substantial lift in earnings per share expectations, suggesting that the analysts have become more bullish after the latest result.

The consensus price target rose 18% to €4.17, suggesting that higher earnings estimates flow through to the stock's valuation as well. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. The most optimistic Polytec Holding analyst has a price target of €4.90 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at €3.60. There are definitely some different views on the stock, but the range of estimates is not wide enough as to imply that the situation is unforecastable, in our view.

One way to get more context on these forecasts is to look at how they compare to both past performance, and how other companies in the same industry are performing. We would highlight that Polytec Holding's revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 1.1% annualised growth rate until the end of 2025 being well below the historical 5.7% p.a. growth over the last five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 2.7% per year. Factoring in the forecast slowdown in growth, it seems obvious that Polytec Holding is also expected to grow slower than other industry participants.

The Bottom Line

The biggest takeaway for us is the consensus earnings per share upgrade, which suggests a clear improvement in sentiment around Polytec Holding's earnings potential next year. Fortunately, the analysts also reconfirmed their revenue estimates, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Although our data does suggest that Polytec Holding's revenue is expected to perform worse than the wider industry. We note an upgrade to the price target, suggesting that the analysts believes the intrinsic value of the business is likely to improve over time.

Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. We have estimates - from multiple Polytec Holding analysts - going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
