We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Plastiblends India Limited (NSE:PLASTIBLEN).

What Is Insider Buying?

Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock in the company. However, such insiders must disclose their trading activities, and not trade on inside information.

We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing. As Peter Lynch said, 'insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise'.

Plastiblends India Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The MD & Executive Non-Independent Director Varun Kabra made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for ₹152m worth of shares at a price of ₹179 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is ₹183. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. Happily, the Plastiblends India insider decided to buy shares at close to current prices. Varun Kabra was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

Varun Kabra bought a total of 962.25k shares over the year at an average price of ₹179. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!
