One SmartRent Insider Raised Their Stake In The Previous Year \
Looking at SmartRent, Inc.'s (NYSE:SMRT ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net buyers. That is, there were more number of shares purchased by insiders than there were sold.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At SmartRent
The Independent Director Robert Best made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$307k worth of shares at a price of US$3.65 each. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of US$3.22. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. Robert Best was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

SmartRent Insiders Are Selling The Stock
Over the last three months, we've seen significant insider selling at SmartRent. In total, Independent Director Alana Beard sold US$73k worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. In light of this it's hard to argue that all the insiders think that the shares are a bargain.
